Tension grows over Tory right to work proposal

The Ontario Conservatives’ right to work plan continues to cause political strife, with the Liberals taking full advantage of reports that the controversial policy is dividing party members.

On Tuesday, the Ontario Liberals released audio of Conservative Durham MPP John O’Toole at the party’s fall policy convention, talking about how right to work has the potential to cost the party the next election. Two days later, the Toronto Star reported it had obtained a memo written by 11 Conservative MPPs from North Ontario, expressing concern that right to work could lose the party seats in the north if it fails to sell the policy to voters.
